Few human experiences are as universally shared, and yet as diverse, as the loss of virginity. This collection of first-time sexual encounters is not meant as an instruction manual. Neither is it meant to be a warning. It is offered merely to illustrate a small sample of the breadth of human experiences. Some are funny. Some are sad. Some are joyful. Some are life-altering. All of them are different.
The concept of The Virgin Project started with the submission of a first-time story at the Comic Biography Theatre, an interactive cartooning project produced at Seattle's Bumbershoot Arts Festival in 2004. This first volume of Virgin Stories is the product of a collaboration between two artist-storytellers.
All of the stories in this book are true. The names have been changed to protect privacy, and identifying factors have been altered occasionally. These stories were collected at various times and locations, including during the Seattle Erotic Art Festival and the Victoria Erotic Art and Film Festival. Artistic license has been used, but sparingly to ensure that these real-life stories ring true.
This is just the first volume of this on-going project to collect and illustrate first-time stories. You are welcome to submit your story for consideration for publication.
